That's totally doable. If the father-in-law can't transport it, I think a Ustream telethon is a great idea. Tony's right, $2-$3 should be plenty. Nashville's about 650 miles from Dallas, and at about 18mpg, that's about $250 worth of gas for the round trip. That's not bad at all.
