I left the Republican Party when Republicans stopped standing for reduced government spending. I’m socially liberal and fiscally conservative, so neither the Republican Party or the Democrat Party are good fits for me any way. I’m a Libertarian and I wish a Libertarian with a chance of winning would run, but I’m not holding my breath.
Having just watched Sarah Palin speak after McCain introduced her as his V.P. pick, I’m excited! I’m ambivalent about McCain and dead set against Obama’s socialist agenda, but Sarah Palin? I like her! She’s smart. She’s real. She’s strong. She’s likable. She’s articulate, and heck, she’s hot!
I’ve never been a big fan of guys, so I would love to see Sarah Palin become the first woman president. Granted, I don’t know a lot about her, and I’ll have to register to vote, but at first glance … WOW!
Interesting facts about Palin are at the disrepectfully (but accurately) named: VPilf.com

Palin? Hot? I suggest you look a little closer to home.
@alienspaces - Cali think Sarah Palin is hot too.
Palin? really? oh my! She is a pro-lifer, under investigation for dismissing Walter Monegan when (apparently) he refused to fire her sisters former husband (A state trooper). She also resisted giving same-sex benefits to government employees (this is outside of the marriage argument) and only did so under court order. She’s also noted as putting oil and gas development’s ahead of wildlife protection (Re: Placing polar bears on the endangered species list).
This is who you choose to support? All I read is “Restrict womans right to choose for their self what is right for their body” “Restrict same sex rights” (Excluding the marriage debate since that is a separate topic all together) “Placing profit above environment” and finally “If you break my sisters heart, I will ruin your career” (investigation is still ongoing on this one).
As for being hot, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I wasn’t talking to Cali and she didn’t write it on her blog.
Palin’s a great choice for the Republican ticket. However, I wonder why a libertarian like you doesn’t express any issues with her interference with the lives of Alaskans — namely, her fight against abortion and same-sex marriage rights. Seems she favors some government intervention in the lives of others — not terribly libertarian.
As Belgian I can’t think why you want an other republican after 8 years of republican bullsh*t. WHat was good about Bush, Wars? Healthplans? Can you give me one good thing about BUsh or other republicans? Not that democrats are much better. One thing about America: how can America be an democratic country if an president can vote a veto (think about the children’s healthcare). (sorry for my faul language). It must be crap to choose in an country where there are only two parties who are too similar.
I’m a conservative who isn’t happy about McCain but I was going to hold my nose and vote Republican anyways. Obama is a joke with no experience and way too many questionable ties. I really like Palin so far and especially with the way the media is attacking her and her family, they would never talk about Clinton’s or Obama’s kids and pregnancy like they are with Palin. This will backfire HUGE against Democrats if they really try and attack this strong, attractive conservative woman because she’s not liberal enough. For MacMasore - Europeans forget so quickly who their true friends are, when Russia starts taking more countries it’s not Belgium that will do anything about it because you have socialized medicine and no military.
For Christian Mercer - At least this woman understands that this country needs energy and right now Oil is it. Did you know she runs a state that is responsible for 20% of oil production in our country, Obama’s run a campaign. She understands what 70%+ Americans do, it’s time for sensible energy production before environmentalists drive the prices up even higher. She even wants to drill in ANWR which is better than what McCain advocates. Gov Palin really impresses me, she’s lived her convictions and is a lifetime member of the NRA. She’s so damn hot in so many ways, I’ll be voting for Palin and McCain is just lucky this time..
Palin is the only real-seeming person I’ve ever seen run in my life time. Obama is a socialist. McCain is clueless. Palin is real.
@Macmosore - healthcare is a socialist issue. Anyone who supports stealing money from producers to provide for the needy doesn’t understand God’s plan. My obligation as a Christian is to provide help for the needy. Any governmental attempt to force that is evil.
“For MacMasore - Europeans forget so quickly who their true friends are, when Russia starts taking more countries it’s not Belgium that will do anything about it because you have socialized medicine and no military.”
That’s a lot of bull-crap so you think that because we have a socialized medicine system we love the russians, well think otherwise a lot of people in Belgium are against Poutin and the system in russia. And the thing about you helping us in WWII, well we are thankful but that has nothing to do with the America today.
Neal, as for Palin, I think you’re spot on and she is attractive. I think McCain doesn’t get enough credit. He is a war veteran who has done a lot for this country. He’s a good guy with a great wife, and they both do a lot for the community (more than just donate).
Also, thank you for mentioning God. We all need to include Him in our lives more.
Keep doing what you do!
Neal,
I thought you would appreciate this. Even though it may not 100% relate to all the comments on this page:
Best time of my web 2.0 life was had on Wednesday night. With two browsers open on my macbook.. in bed with ear buds. (hubby watching tv beside me)
I had Ustream open on one side for the RNC and Palin’s acceptance speech. With twitter opened on the other side.
I had a complete ball watching reading and tweeting!
This Granny had the most exciting internet experience of her life!
Some fellow @ replied me and said “SwitchingGranny I totall agree with you and cannot wait to vote”. Have no clue exactly which of my hasty tweets he was replying to. But how awesome!
Some other fellow @ replied and said “Settle down Granny”!
I must thank you and Cali for giving me the ideas for Ustream and for Twitter!!
Thank you
Martha
PS I do agree with you! Palin’s speech was unusual for politicians, it was seemingly genuine. She promoted enthusiasm. I think she will make this coming election exciting. And I must give McCain some respect just for choosing her!
