@ Jonathan Freedland … whoever you are

We’re not voting for a president based on what the reast of the world thinks. The reast of the world values the disaster of socialism. Barak fights for socialism in the U.S. and we reject it. We are the country of “live free or die.” Continue to cheer for the guy who stands against individual liberity because it steadies our reslove to resist the opression of socialism. Elitist who think they know better than the rest of us do not have a chance in our nation’s politics (I hope).

Our nation is founded on the principle that all of us are created equil with the freedom to pursue happiness. Taxation and socialism is all about restricting our freedome to pursue happiness. That’s why we reject Europen influence. You guys don’t have our best interest at heart. We love that you support Barak’s insane ideology. The idea that governement can and should help me is the most worthless idea ever prepossed. Government only has one repsonsibility to good Americans: Get out of our way!

Everything we need to suceed is provided to us by liberty. Jesus died to set us free. The world supports Obama’s desire to hold us down. That’s change I’ll fight to prevent.

    Whoah… that’s gotta be a three-martini rant!

Which, by the way, I agree with. Both the three martinis and the content.

  2. Actually Neal, you have Socialism all wrong. You don’t need help thus it won’t help you. However, should you ever be in a position to require help, socialism is there. That is why I am glad to live in Canada. If I was ever so down on my luck due to a changed economy, dishonest employer (think Enron), or other such circumstances, my tax dollars are now there to help me in a meaningful way. Bridging the gap until I find other work, paying for medical care, and other “socialist” programs. I think your basic premise of what socialism is, is far off base.

This is standard conservative fair. If it is liberal it is elitist. If it’s an “ism” of any kind it is counter to liberty. Last I checked I had liberty in Canada. My British friends enjoyed liberty as do my French friends. I am sorry but liberty can exist in “socialist” country like Canada or Great Britian. The government does not interfere with my rights to the “freedom to act or believe without being stopped by unnecessary force”. Which is the basic premise of political liberty as you use it. Last I checked, in the modern world, the USA no longer had the top dog spot on freedom and liberty. Your Patriot Act, DMCA, and many other practices by the governments have ensured of that.

  3. Neal, I have to echo what Christopher Mercer said. Socialism isn’t a tie that binds. You pay your taxes, you get them back, if you need help. What exactly do you think Socialist Governments do to suppress us? I’ve paid taxes all my working life. I’ve just spent the last 3 years of my life being supported financially by my Socialist British Government, while I was ill. If it wasn’t for a fair Socialist system, that gave me my taxes back when I needed them most, I would have been out on the street homeless. Fact. Maybe you’re confusing Socialism with Communism? If Socialism is such a disaster, why is the UK doing so well? The pound has been stronger than the dollar for years.

Don’t forget, the last time when Bush was up against Gore, you guys didn’t have a choice, their policies were the same for everything except one. Free to choose? Hardly.

You come across somewhat deluded to put it mildly. I know you’re ‘born-again’, and telling you Jesus died because he incenced people for claiming to be the son of ‘God’, but well, you’d have more luck following a path like Buddhism than having blind faith in a bunch of stories written centuries ago, that have little basis on reality. Teach creationism in schools? Get real. How can you (maybe it’s just Luria) follow something as scientifically significant as the Large Hadron Collider and support a brain-washed politian who wants children to grow up being confused about the facts?

@alienspaces - The Large Hadron Collider is all about creation. Science and God are not mutually exclusive. Science to me is just the long, hard way to get to what Christians accept by faith.

@T.C. - Yes! You know me well. :)

  5. Well all the Christians I’ve ever met in my whole life take the Bible literally, hence the furore over teaching creationism in schools. From that point of view on this issue, Science and God are mutually exclusive according to the, lets call them, hard-core Christians, people who refuse to accept reality.

Evolution isn’t reality it is a theory. You can no more prove evolution than I can prove my faith in God. I’m happy that you have confidence in your beliefs. I do too! It feels great to be sure, doesn’t it!

    A short ‘ditty’ on evolution:

One day, a guy I’ll just call Dirk, took his watch from his arm and decided to test a theory. He took the watch completely apart. Putting all the tiny parts in a brown paper bag, he started to shake the bag. He did this for the rest of his life. His children took up the cause and also shook the bag for their whole life. Until one day, billions of years later, a descendant of Dirk, emptied the bag of its parts. Along with the parts was a note, the note read, “If after billions of years of shaking, you pull from this bag a fully assembled watch that works and has the correct time, then you should give the theory of natural selection some merit. If all that in this bag is simply parts from some old watch, then that is what I thought.”
