Coolest Jim Henson Photo Ever

Most awesome photo of Jim Henson with Kermit on Dolly

I’m working on my second animated short. The project involves people used in Apple’s Think Different campaign. I was browsing around looking at photos and landed on this one of Jim Henson with Kermit. I think it’s the coolest I’ve seen.

If you’ve never seen Big Bird sing, “It’s not Easy Being Green,” at Jim Henson’s funeral, I have to warn you … it’s pretty damn moving coming from some puppets.

A Cinemagraph

Posted by on Jul 18, 2011 in photography | Comments Off

Remember those annoying animated .gif images from the Netscape days? The one I remember best was a little cartoon of a man at work a long site the words, “Under Construction.” Animated gifs are back, but they’ve grown up and they’re now being called cinemagraphs.

A cinemagraph is like a photo that moves. Sounds like a video, you say? Unlike a video, there is no play or pause button. Once the image loads, it loops again and again in your browser. The best ones look like they never begin or end.

I shot a video of a dancer doing an amazing flip at the end of a dance. The flip was so cool, and I thought the series of images would make a good cinemagraph. I don’t have the full version of Photoshop so I asked for help on Goggle+. I cut the video, slowed it down, looped it and then Mark Skluzacek (@skluz on Twitter) worked the Photoshop magic to turn it into a .gif.

Mark Skluzacek is software developer living in the MidWest with a strong background in C++ development on multiple platforms and web development.  Continuing to expand my knowledge of web app and mobile app development. One of his recent projects is MWSports.net.

A tutorial for making Cinemagraphs of your own is here.

Flickr Fever

I’ve caught Flickr Fever.

We signed up for a Flickr account long ago, but didn’t add many photos.  It didn’t capture my interest until we got a new still camera.  Now, I can hardly wait to take some shots and stick them up to see how they rank compared to the others we’ve uploaded.  It’s interesting to see which photos are most popular.
